Queen Victoria, her hempy story...

As we have just celebrated Victoria Day here in Canada, I thought it only fitting to address a little bit of Canadian History, Plant Medicne and Herbal Hormonal supports.

Queen Victoria reigned (c. 1837) causing this to be an era in Canadian and World History, highly aligned with this Queen and her family. Places like "Alberta" and "Lake Louise" are just two examples of the royals influence on namesake not to mention the obvious "Victoria" and "British" Cloumbia. There was a high amount of British immigration during this time in Canadian History.

Unbeknownst to many Canadians and Britains, Queen Victoria used Hemp and Cannabis to help her with the pain and discomfort of Menstruation and Menstrual disorders.

Her doctor at the time, Sir J. Russell Reynolds, influenced by Irish polymath, Dr William Brooke O'Shaughnessy (c. 1841) recommended that Queen Victoria utilize plant medicine in her wellness routines to alleviate her pain. They utilized tinctures, mainly, taken at differing intervals. Her family history of Hemophilia may have been a factor for her experiencing exponential pain and discomfort at the time. Causing her to experience heavy blood loss and anemia.

However, with the invent and rise of the use of the hypodermic needle in the late 1850s, opioid use quickly overcame the use of Herbal remedies for pain relief. Her ailments at end of life were widespread as well as her pain.

As we see today, opioid use dose not necessarily heal the nervous system.
