The LIFE Massage Story...

*** humble beginnings of a wholistic wellness practice***

For years I have dreamed of having my own business. After working in the manual therapy industry since 2002, I had been dreaming of owning my own business where I could share all of the wellness education, supports and research that I have been working on for the last 8 years...

I am now the proud owner and operator of a business that has had its share of ups and downs, as many "new" businesses do. However; after 8 years, now almost 9, I have had the first hand opportunity to witness the powerful transformation that occurs in my patients lives after a manual therapy treatment at the LifeMassage studio in Calgary, Alberta, Canada!

My skillset is a combination of allopathic and traditional medicine, presented in via manual therapy modalities of myofascial release, physical muscle therapy and massage. In 2017, I left for Colorado to train with a team of doctors, nurses and cannabinoid researchers. Little did I know that my experience there would revive internal knowing that helped me to see the full picture of well-being, including the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). After studying in Colorado, I returned home to Calgary, Alberta to put the new education I had received to good work.

My journey through the legalization of plant medicine has brought many realizations, from how we treat a cancer diagnosis; to realizing there are better treatment methods for folks with Fibromyalgia, and Multiple Sclerosis diagnoses, plant medicine has enhanced the lives of many of my patients at the studio. Not only are there fascinating supports cannabinoids can give the body but through my research I believe that regular cannabinoid therapy would help to support many disorders by filling the ECS receptors via the skin.

The skin is the largest organ of the body and I feel that modern medicine negates to recognize that it is also the most effective at keeping the body balanced in more ways than we let on....

The skin has cannabinoid receptors that bind to cannabinoids to create balance. Once the body has the opportunity to feel free, that is where I feel the most important work can be done. With lowered pain sensitivity, increased muscle relaxation and fascial stretching combined with cannabinoid therapy, a massage becomes a whole body wholistic care system.

L.I.F.E.

can simply be defined as...

Lifted- elevated, raised to higher level

Intuitive- instinctive, inner knowing

Flower- the term given to the bud of the cannabis plant (but I also see YOU as a flower or a plant!)

Education- information shared to give an enlightening experience

LIFE also refers to "The Tree of Life". Cannabis has been metaphorically referred to as the "tree of life" due to it historical, medicinal, and ritual significance across cultures but most widely known through the lense of rastafari tradition. As an entheogenic, sacred plant it has the potential to open our mind to another reality, to divine consciousness. It is this access to divine consciousness that drives the intuitive nature of this treatment. The Cannabis plant contains more than just THC, it has a vast number of compounds that help to assist in the body's homeostasis. Many of these compounds DO NOT cause a psychoactive result but do help to balance a deficient and starving system of the body.

When I first opened my business I focused on education, teaching guests to the studio how to create their own oils and butters for cooking and wellbeing. I held an ACMPR grow licence here which gave me the ability to grow for medical use. I began to form a relationship with a specific strain of cannabis which contains a perfect 1:1 ratio of THC and CBD called Granny's Medicine.

It was during this time that I started working with patients who were diagnosed with Cancer, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, and Fibromyalgia. It started out with patients being curious if I would ever think of using topical cannabinoids for their pain relief and the LIFEmassage was born!

Since 2017 I have been working with patients and their doctors to regain mobility, muscle function, better sleeping patterns and an overall increase in wellbeing. I am happy to report that many of my patients have regained their "zest for life" post treatment. If you are experiencing pain; long term or short term, if you have gone through big life changing experiences, if you have received a diagnosis from your doctor.... its not the end, it's just the beginning with LIFE.
